Dr. Mohammed Al-Sulaiman, CEO of the Real Estate Registry, announced the successful geospatial survey of over 22,000 square kilometers of Saudi Arabia, paving the way for the initial real estate registration process. Utilizing a range of advanced technologies, including drones and manned aircraft, the project has produced survey data with precision down to mere centimeters. This initiative is part of the Real Estate Registry and the geospatial surveying project, the largest of its kind in the Kingdom, aimed at creating a national real estate data map encompassing information on over 8.2 million properties.

Dr. Al-Sulaiman made this announcement during his keynote address at the ESRI Users Conference, held in Riyadh on January 21–22, 2024. He revealed that the number of announced properties has exceeded two million across five administrative regions, with more than 50,000 property transactions processed via the Real Estate Registry platform.

He emphasized that geospatial efforts are a cornerstone of successful property registration and highlighted the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, practices, and systems in executing geospatial projects. The Real Estate Registry adheres to over 20 local and international standards in geospatial practices, collaborating with more than 65 public and private sector entities. The initiative encompasses the surveying of 100,000 square kilometers of urban areas and two million square kilometers of non-urban areas, resulting in a national property data map exceeding 19 petabytes.

The registry leverages advanced tools such as ArcGIS Pro for data analysis and the creation of interactive maps, contributing significantly to urban planning and land management improvements. Continuing its ambitious plan, the Real Estate Registry employs innovative and unique technologies, which have earned it recognition, including an award from ESRI for excellence in applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and leveraging advanced geospatial technologies.
